Believe it or not, there are some $2 billion in unclaimed lottery payments each year. Needless to say, that’s a lot of dough. Whether you were to get it in a lottery lump sum payout or in a lottery annuity settlement, here are just a few of the things you could buy if you had that amazing amount of money.
The Central Bank of Belgium.
If you had all of the uncollected lottery payments from one year, you could purchase the Central Bank of Belgium, which is worth about $1.88 billion. This means that you’ll also have enough left over to buy more than 100 Hennessey Venom GT sports cars, which are valued at $1.1 million a piece.
The Republic of Maldives.
With all those uncollected lottery payments, you would have enough money to buy the Maldives. Yes, a country. Officially the Republic of Maldives, the archipelago in the Laccadive Sea has a GDP of $1.94 billion. This also means you’ll have enough lottery payments leftover to get nearly three copies of Action Comics #1, which is where Superman made his debut.
The Endeavour Space Shuttle.
With all those uncollected lottery payments, you could afford to the Endeavour Space Shuttle, valued at a whopping $1.7 billion. This retired orbiter from NASA’s Space Shuttle program was the fifth — and final — operational shuttle built. With all that leftover money, you might even be able to fund an actual trip to space.
Of course, the only way to really collect those lottery payments is to play the game and pay attention. Who knows? Maybe some of it was actually yours in the first place. Although you probably shouldn’t think about it, otherwise you may not get any sleep at night.
If you know what you’d spend your lottery payments on, feel free to share in the comments.
